Cathy Holtslander
Cathy Holtslander has been involved in environmental advocacy with a focus on agriculture and food since the mid 1990s. Prior to joining the BFF team she worked for the Saskatchewan Eco Network, and co-published Synergy Magazine. She helped organize the founding conference of Beyond Factory Farming and co-edited the book “Beyond Factory Farming: Corporate Hog Barns and the Threat to Public Health, the Environment, and Rural Communities” based upon the conference presentations. She is on the Board of GRAIN, an international non-governmental organisation that promotes agricultural biodiversity based on people's control over genetic resources and local knowledge.
Lisa Bechthold
Lisa Bechthold became involved in the fight against factory farming about 10 years ago, when the Taiwanese Sugar Corporation proposed a 7200-sow farrow to finish hog operation in her community. They successfully defeated the proposal at both the Municipal Planning Commission and the Appeal Board levels. She has worked with groups across Canada who need help in dealing with factory farm issues. She is one of the founders and Secretary of the Society for Environmentally Responsible Livestock Operations (in Alberta) (SERLO), which was formed in April 2002. She currently a community organizer for the Beyond Factory Farming Coalition. Lisa lives in Alberta on a farm with her husband and 2 children. Lisa obtained a Business Diploma from the Lethbridge College and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Lethbridge.
Glen Koroluk
Glen Koroluk has been an environmental researcher and advocate since the late 1980s. He is a community organizer for Beyond Factory Farming which he helped found in 2002. In his volunteer capacity, he currently sits on the board of Food Secure Canada and recently completed a two year term as a representative on the Canadian Environmental Network’s Agricultural Caucus steering committee. Previously, Glen was the coordinator for Hog Watch Manitoba, coordinator for the Manitoba Eco-Network water caucus and served as the executive director of Resource Conservation Manitoba. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Winnipeg.
Ian Lordon
Ian Lordon joined Beyond Factory Farming in 2008. For 15 years Ian has worked as a journalist and activist in British Columbia, Quebec, and Ontario after completing a BA at Ottawa University. Between stints as a reporter and editor Ian has helped campaign for aboriginal justice, literacy, community stability, ecologically sound forest harvesting, and against globalization, over fishing and offshore oil drilling. He was also once elected Mayor of Tlell. Ian is based in Ottawa.
