Migrant labour

Factory farms and the meatpacking industry are increasingly relying on migrant workers for labour. Migrant workers have fewer rights than Canadian workers as their ability to remain in Canada depends on keeping their jobs. This creates a chill on workers ability to seek wage increases or to refuse unsafe work.

Migrant workers are not protected by provincial workers compensation laws, and not counted in stats when injured or killed on the job
