2007 Avian flu outbreak in Saskatchewan
In September 2007 an industrial chicken barn in Saskatchewan was infected with the highly pathogentic strain of avian flu-known as H7N3. According to an official with the agency, "It is the working hypothesis of CFIA that a low pathogenicity form of the H7N3 virus existed on this premises prior to the modification to high pathogenicity." No other barns or backyard flocks were affected.
